Lisa Bernstein
Lisa Bernstein is a Licensed Master Social Worker at Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School. This is her fifth year working at POBMS. Before working in Plainview, Lisa worked at the Summit School, a special education school in Queens, for nine years. Lisa earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at the University of Maryland, and she earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Fordham University.
During the summer, Lisa volunteers at Experience Camps, a free one-week camp for children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or primary caregiver. She is one of the clinicians at the camp and facilitates daily grief/bereavement activities. Lisa is also a group facilitator with Teenz in the City, a social skills program for adolescents and young adults with a history of social challenges and learning differences. Teenz in the City focuses on social skills, fostering independence, developing friendships, travel training, and executive functioning skills through community-based outings. In addition to her role as a social worker, Lisa started Beads4Proceeds, a bracelet business, where she makes and sells bracelets to raise money for charities, especially Experience Camps.
