Course Description: Student management and engagement are often intertwined in the classroom. Too frequently, however, teachers focus on one aspect or the other and fall short. This course is designed to instruct educators on ways in which to motivate their students and have them engage in the learning systems – ways that alleviate boredom and create intellectual communities that flourish. Participants will focus on creating the organization that effectively meets students’ goals, setting up enticing learning experiences, creating critical thinking centers, placing the onus of responsibility on the student. Focus will be placed on engagement through discourse, sentence stemming, targeting students’ interests, all of which mitigate negative behaviors. Teachers will be provided with an influx of creative material in order to allow their students to soar!!
