Performance based Assessment vs. Problem based Assessment- What Educators Need to Know

This course enables educators to distinguish between performance-based and problem-based assessment, understand when and how to use each, and design meaningful tasks that promote critical thinking, application, and real-world learning. Teachers will leave with ready-to-use assessments tailored to their subject areas. Participants will be able to:

• Define and differentiate performance-based and problem-based assessments
• Identify the strengths and limitations of each approach
• Design aligned assessments for different learning goals
• Facilitate student learning through authentic tasks
• Create rubrics and evaluation tools for both assessment types
