Course Description:

The goal of giving great feedback is a skill that all need to practice.  Whether you’re a teacher giving feedback to your students, an administrator providing feedback on an observation, or a colleague sharing feedback on a fellow teacher’s lesson, feedback is an integral skill. This course will provide strategies for sharing positive and negative feedback with proper etiquette and style.  Since feedback accomplishes different goals depending on the situation, educators will work on strategies for effective use of feedback at the optimal moments and times.  Teachers will find that after this course they will achieve great results in and out of the classroom to help provide the feedback results they seek.  This course is a must for educators K-12.

  Course Description – Motivating students who have checked out to learning can be extremely stressful. Teachers need a blueprint for introducing more rigor into their classrooms while creating fun-filled activities that are critical thinking and inquiry based. Participants in this course will learn how to effectively address the distinct needs of their students that go beyond their comfort zones and push them toward success. A slew of activities will be completed including differentiated instruction, reading and writing in the content areas, interdisciplinary tactics, cross-cultural techniques, and current websites geared towards success. Both fiction and non-fiction sources will be addressed, as well as science and math strategies for learning. (3 credits/45 hours) – In-service Credit

Course Description – Creating a rich RTI Classroom, embedded with Tier One, Two, and Three Strategies can transform students’ lives. Being able to connect our students and have them walk in the path of success is essential for all students. In this class, teachers will be able to create lessons that engage the learner via Responding to Intervention techniques, including differentiation, student empowerment, student modification. A Must for K-12 Educators!!!

In this course, participants will learn the importance of Responsive Classroom techniques, specifically morning meeting and closing circle strategies. Participants will walk away with a plethora of greetings, morning meeting messages, games and shares to be implemented into their routine right away. The four components of morning meeting will be discussed in detail, as well as incorporating closing circle This engaging way to start and end the day will lead to student success both socially, emotionally and academically. This course is a must for all Educators K-12.

The focus of this course will be to provide educators with an overview of the Student Learning Objective process or SLO. According to the NYS Department of Education, a Student Learning Objective is an academic goal for a teacher’s students that is set a the start of a course. SLOs are aligned to Common Core Standards and are used to measure student growth, as well as teacher effectiveness. In this course participants will research the purpose and benefits of the SLO process as well as the required components of SLOs. Participants will learn which educators are responsible for for writing SLOs and how these learning objectives factor into the teacher evaluation system (APPR). In addition, educators will have the opportunity to view and evaluate state provided model SLOs written by NYS educators, across all grade levels/content/specialty areas. Resources will be provided for educators to engage in a “how to” SLO writing process. As a culminating activity participants will write his/her own grade level/content area SLOs. This course will utilize a variety of resources such as videos, webinars, and articles from various websites including: htt:://engageny.org/. Teachers will learn to completely spruce up their classrooms with ideas for helping children achieve their maximum potential. discover the wonder of learning, the power of the imagination, and the wealth in finding oneself. Teachers will immerse themselves in creative activities that develop the culture of their classrooms. They will comprehend the level of passion and dedication that is inherent in our field and in turn, learn to develop lessons that correlate to student needs. Strategies for reluctant learners will be focused on as well as creating lessons that are relevant to their students’ cultures. A variety of ideas for multiple subject matters willl be taught, including award winning books, mathematical strategies, and historical games. Teachers will emerge will lessons that show how to value quality over quantity and teach effectively rather than rotely. All grade levels and subjects welcome. Course Description:

How do we teach respect? Respect from our students is one of the greatest issues educators face day to day when trying to educate our students. Has respect been lost, or do children just need to be reminded of it from time to time? This course will look into this phenomenon. As educators we need to work on this generation of students and their idea of respect and the culture behind it. In this course we will discuss how crucial respect is to achieving success in the classroom and in life. In this course, educators will explore the impact of cultural values, work ethic, family life and various other factors that influence students inside and outside of our schools. This course will incorporate the many factors that go into teaching students respect. This course is a must for all educators grades K-12.

Course Description:

A creative teacher is a teacher that students remember.  This type of teacher is a pleasure to be around, makes you laugh and makes you want to come to class every day.  This course will arm educators with the positive and fun strategies they will need to be the creative teacher they want to be.  Strategies such as games in the classroom, exciting cooperative learning activities, and how to build positive and strong relationships that inspire your students will be discussed.  By the end of this course educators will feel that they have enough strategies to inspire their students for free exploration and an open atmosphere in the classroom.  This course is a must for all educators grades K-12.

Course Description: This course will focus on the geography of education and how to teach your students; no matter who they are or where they come from.  Geography by definition is to study the physical features and activity of a society, and how this affects and is affected by those around it.  So, why not apply it to education! This course will examine the features of education and how we use it to teach our students better on a daily basis.  Teachers will discuss our learning activities and atmospheres.  We will discuss our populations in our schools, they areas in which we teach, and the resources we receive to benefit these populations.  Educators will work on techniques and strategies for the ultimate goal of success with the geography of learning and educating all students no matter the area they live or how they learn.  This course is a must for all educators levels K-12.

Preppy. Techie. Geek. Freak. Loser. Jock. These are just a few of the labels that students live with every day. And some labels are a lot nastier. Who hands out these labels? What role do labels play? Do they help or hurt? Do people sometimes like their labels, or do they always hate them? This course will examine the truth behind these labels and the impact that they have on student behavior and learning. Suitable all educators K-12. COURSE OBJECTIVES AND LEARNING STANDARDS 1. To learn where labels come from Standard 2: A Safe and Healthy Environment. Students will acquire the knowledge and ability necessary to create and maintain a safe and healthy environment. 2. In education, mindset is everything. The Power of Yet is an enticing professional development course designed to help teachers cultivate a growth mindset in themselves and their students. Through reflection, hands-on activities, and intentional practice, educators will learn how to shift from a fixed mindset to an optimistic, solutions-focused approach. This course will provide strategies to encourage resilience, persistence, and a love of learning in students while fostering a more positive, engaged, and adaptable teaching mindset.

Participants will explore the science behind growth mindset, practice mindfulness techniques, analyze real-world classroom scenarios, and apply their learning through practical exercises. By the end of this course, teachers will have the tools to transform challenges into opportunities, empower students to embrace mistakes, and create a more positive, supportive learning environment.  Suitable all educators K-12.

In education, this time period is crucial in developing critical thinking skills amongst our learners. This course will analyze the exploration and inquiry that require students to put together ideas in new ways and take risks while learning. Participants will learn the ways in which to pose higher-order thinking skills to our learners and to develop the utmost in student participants. *A must for K-12 educators*

No matter what subject you teach or what topic you may bring up in class, having your students communicate with each other is key to a successful educational environment.   The “Turn and Talk” is a way for students to share how they feel about a lesson, a quote, a story, a historical event, etc., by simply turning toward a neighbor and sharing ideas.  This course will focus on how to use Turn and Talk ideas as a way for students to center their learning and focus on higher order thinking.  Educators will practice the Turn and Talk so it can be modeled for their students as well as collaborate to create appropriate Turn and Talk topics.  This course is designed for educators of all subject areas grades K-12.
